19th century skeleton of a cat (Felis silvestris catus) suffering from ankylosing spondylitis. This condition is a form of arthritis that has caused the animal’s vertebrae to fuse together making the back become permanently curved. Photographed in the museum of the National Veterinary School of Alfort, Maisons-Alfort, France.
